Digital Learning W7 T4

 

This week we had to do some more digital learning. Our digital learning is about Games! Digital games and non-digital games. 1st off, what we had to do was read/listen to some text. I decided that I am more interested in cultural things so, I decided to talk about Traditional Maori Games. I enjoyed reading the book! It was very interesting! My favourite part of the book is, when they talk about kites! Then we had to invent or modify a game! I decided to invent a game. It was a bit hard to type it because of how many ideas I had, but in the end I got it. After that we had to do extra reading. I read, Maia's Magic Wand and Whai String Game. Then we had to do some math. For some reason I decided to do chili 4. Anyways after that, We had to do some Matific. Then, we had to do our STEAM wero. After that, We had to research about our favourite games. My Mum taught me this Filipino game, and I really enjoyed it! It is my favourite game. I also researched about Handball since it's my 2nd favourite game. After that we had to watch a few videos and then create a non-digital game. After that we had to do our writing. We had to write 2 poems, one about a sport, and one about Monopoly houses, Knuckle Bones, Chess Piece Queen and Hopscotch. For me, writing the Calligram/Shape Poem was the challenge., but in the end I did it. 

Distance Learning T4 W6

 

This week for Distance Learning, all of our slides we based off some topics we do at school. For example Reading and Writing. The first the my class had to do was Read/Watch the books and videos. After that we had evaluate. We had to find different features about Dan's house and Nga Motu. Then we had to find some similarities about Dan and Nga Motu's homes. After that we had to create a home that looks like Dan's house and Nga Motu's house. It was really fun because we got to use Minecraft Education Edition! But first, before we built we had to start planning! Just after the page, there was another page with planning. We had to fill that out. Then we had to read Extra reading for 10 minutes! After that we got to choose Maths between: All chilies, Chili 1, Chili 2, Chili 3, and Chili 4. I decided to do All Chilies even though it looks to be the hardest but, it wasn't that bad. Then we had to do Matific as an extra math game for 20 minutes. And now we got to do our create! Sadly all my recent worlds got deleted this morning so I cannot show you any pictures. Moving on to Writing. We had to do 2 tasks. No.1: Make A jingle for your create. No.2: Make a poster for your create. They were both very hard but I got through.

Reading, Writing And Maths T4 W5

This week, for my class slides we had to do Reading, Writing and of course Maths! For Maths I decided to do the all chilies! Instead of doing Kai (Food),  I'm really interested in coffee for some reason, so I just did a coffee. For reading we had to read a book and create an electric toothbrush for the elephant and book. It was hard getting ideas, so I just got a regular toothbrush and made it bigger. I was a bit lazy but I still did it because it was quite fun. For writing our purpose was to instruct the reader. We had to choose a recipe and try to write the instructions without hearing anything in the video. I chose to do the chocolate brownie sandwich. It sounds weird but it does look delicious if you ask me! I don't know if I got the recipe correct but other than that it was fun! For some reason I was mostly interested in the math. I guess I just really like to create something like that. When I was creating the coffee picture I was thinking to myself this is a bad idea because it's food not drinks but I still went for coffee for some reason. Any how everything was fun until I heard about our writing task 2. We had to pick a picture with the link and choose a number. I chose number 5 and it was a drawing of  a beach with some seagulls, a sun and some clouds. It was quite hard for me to instruct people to do drawing but, I did it anyway.

Reading - Writing - Math

So first thing we had to do for school was read or listen to 3 books after reading or listening we had to find 3 text features in the book! After that I had to do some extra reading! After reading our extra reading I started to do my Maths problems. The First Math problem for me was a bit hard. It had something to do about money which i'm not very good at. Anyways there were around 7 slides of Math including Matific. After Matific we had to do a STEAM challenge! I decided to use Tinkercad! The reason why I used Tinkercad is because it is an 3D website that you can use to create things. There wasn't much stuff I could add and it was hard but in the end I think it looks pretty good!

Writing ( During Lockdown )

 

This week for writing we had to persuade the reader to either think we should have Kapa Haka or to not have Kapa Haka. What I personally think is that Kapa Haka should be at school for more cultural and more excitement at PCS! What we had to do for writing is to either print out the planner or you could do it digitally! I chose to print out the planner sheet so it's much easier for me to write with and use!

So this week for writing we had to write a formal letter to someone about what we want to change. I decided to change PCS uniforms to either mufti once a month or your house colour T-shirts (something we have at school for cross country). I thought we should at least have some days of mufti or your house colour T-shirt.

This Week For Writing In KH ( Kauri Hub ) We Had To Do Writing About 2 Subjects One About If You Were An Animal What Would You Be? And We Finally Caught The Suspect! I Chose To Write About What If I Could Be Any Animal What Would I Be. I Chose My Animal To The Filipeno Tarsiers.

This Week In KH ( Kauri Hub ) We Had To Write About A Moment Of Time. Basically We Had To Either Pretend We Were Someone In A Picture And Write A Story About Your Experience Or About Sports Day When Some Teams From Our School Goes To A Place To Verse Other Schools. I Decided To Write About The Beginning Of My Sports Day And What We Did Before The Games. We Had Lunch When We Were Off Rounds And Before Our Netball Games And During Our 1 Hour Brake

At My School In Kauri Hub Week 5 Writing Involved Information About Samoa. We Had To Choose 1 Purpose Out Of 3. I Chose To Write A Information Report. An Information Report Is When You Write Facts About Your Topic, As You Know My Topic Is About Samoa And So I Wrote What They Use To Cook Food What They Eat How Many Mountains There Is In Samoa What The Highest And Smallest Mountain Is In Samoa How Many Villages There Is In Samoa How Long It Takes To Get To Samoa From NZ And The Tourist Attractions. There Is 6 Big Tourist Attractions That I Found While Researching About Samoa

How To Make My Cultural Food : Chicken Adobo!

This Week We Had 5 Topics For Writing! The 5 Topics Are : To Describe, To Entertain, To Inform, To Instruct And To Narrate. I Chose To Instruct. For Instruct You Would Either Tell A Recipe Of Your Favourite Food Or Cultural Food. I Chose Cultural Food. I Thought Of Something From The Philippines Because I Am Half Filipino And So I Thought Of Making A Recipe For Chicken Adobo! Chicken Adobo Is A Filipino Food. You Can Always Change The Meat To Something Else Like Pork And Lamb!

 How To Make Egg Omelette

What You Will Need To Make Egg Omelette :

1 or 2 Eggs It Mainly Depends How Big You Want It

Milk (You Can Add It If You Would Like! It's Your Choice

A Fry Pan (Any Size Will Do) 

Oil Or Butter

 Instructions

1. Crack Your Eggs In A Bowl And Add Milk Then Mix

2. Put Your Fry Pan On The Stove And Put It On Low

3. Add Your Oil Or Butter In The Pan

4. When The Pan Get's Hot Pour Your Egg In The Pan And Wait Until The Egg Bubbles

5. Flip The Egg And Wait For 1 Minute

6. Add The Egg Onto A Bowl Or A Plate And Now You Have Egg Omelette!

You Can Make Some Toast Or Some Rice And Have The Egg With It! You Can Also Add Your Favourite Sauce!

Pygmy Seahorses

Pygmy Seahorses

Pygmy Seahorses are one of the smallest seahorses in the world. They are normally 2 centimetres.

Camouflage is critical to their survival because they can hide from predators. 

Here is a question.

Do they find a coral that matches them or do they change colour to match the coral?

The babies pop out of the dad's tummy. When the Pygmy seahorses are born they are a chocolate dull brown colour.

If the baby Pygmy seahorses are by an orange sea fan they will turn orange and if the baby Pygmy seahorses are by a purple sea fan they will turn purple. The babies grow bumps that are called tubercles to match the coral.

The Pygmy seahorses don’t travel to different corals because the predators might see them and eat  them.
